Two Tennessee Insurers Announce Opioid Prescription Reductions
Significant reductions have been made in the number of opioid drugs prescribed in Tennessee according to two of the states largest health care insurers. Blue Cross and Blue Shield is reporting a six percent reduction in prescriptions per plan, per month. While Cigna Insurance is announcing a 25 percent reduction in the number of prescriptions it authorizes…that comes a year earlier than planned and brings Cigna user rates back down to pre epidemic levels.
