Wise County Man Dies in Middle Tennessee Kayak Accident

The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency is reporting they have recovered the body of a Wise County man in a Middle Tennessee River. Tyler Flanary, 18, was reportedly kayaking with his father in the Caney Fork River on Saturday afternoon their kayak flipped. The Smith County Rescue Squad responded to the scene where they were able to help the father who made it to the shore who had made it to shore. A search began immediately for the son. Flanary’s body was found Sunday morning. The Caney Fork River is a popular kayaking destination but the water is also known to be swift.
