Elizabethton Man Sentenced For Detailed Medical Mail Fraud Scheme

An Elizabethton man is headed to prison for just over four years for his role in a detailed mail fraud scheme. 41 year old Donald Kevin Collins pleaded guilty earlier to conspiracy to commit mail fraud and 15 counts of mail fraud. Collins worked for Mountain Empire Surgery Center in Johnson City. Collins and another co- conspirator made up a fake medical company to create hundreds of fraudulent purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices totalling more than one million dollars. Collins, also received three years probation upon release and must repay one point three million dollars in restitution.
