Carter County Residents Could See Property Tax Increase To Balance Budget

Carter County residents gathered last night to discuss a possible property tax increase proposal for next year. The county has a 439 thousand dollars deficit to reduce in order to balance next years operating budget. Some on the county commission believe the only way to do that is to raise taxes. But Carter County Mayor Leon Humphrey says the county should first look at cutting county offices. The commission will vote on the budget next month.
