High Expenditures Pending in Unicoi County

Unicoi County Commissioners met Monday and received reports of a couple of new high expenditures facing the community.

One project the state has recommended is the closure and the replacement of a bridge in the Temple Hill area.

Another issue is the potential sale of the CSX propert that could mean moving the county’s largest solid waste collection site. Currently the Hoover Solid Waste Collection site is located on North Industrial Drive.

An upcoming bid on an eight-acre tract of land that may potentially become the new dump site has been selected for environmental study and survey. They plan on entering negotiations with CSX for it’s purchase for an amount up to $250,000.
