Former UVA-Wise Professor pleads guilty to overseas drug purchase
A former college professor at a local college pleaded guilty to federal drug charges on Thursday.
35-year-old Kristofer Rucinski, former University of Virginia’s College at Wise adjunt professor, admitted to purchasing fentanyl from China using the popular internet currency Bitcoin.
Authorities raided his home earlier this year after the drug was delivered.
Sentencing for the former professor takes place October 11th, and Rucinski may spend at least four years in jail as well as having to pay a $250,000 fine.
