Man Who Eluded Police For Months Finally Nabbed By Hawkins County Authorities

A Hawkins County man who has eluded police since April when he led them on a high speed chase into Virginia has finally been nabbed by authorities. 37 year old Matthew Lee Thacker of Surgoinsville refused to stop for a traffic violation and fled, reaching speeds of ninety miles per hour before he recklessly crossed into Virginia, got out of his car and left on foot. Thacker had not been seen since until this week when the vehicle he was a passenger in was stopped by Hawkins County authorities. A deputy identified Thacker and arrested him on the scene. Thacker will appear in court on August 15 and answer to a host of charges including felony evading police.
