Driver Of Stolen Vehicle…Pins Officer Against Cruiser…Now In Custody
The driver of a stolen vehicle, who pinned a Kingsport Police officer against his patrol car is now in custody. 25 year old Shannon Michael Carter pinned the officer against his cruiser after a traffic stop on Truxton Drive, when police recognized the vehicle Carter was driving as stolen out of Johnson City. Carter, fled the scene at which time one of the officers fired a shot at Carter, missing him as he sped away. The pursuit continued down Highway 11W and ended when Carter crashed the Ranger Rover near Volunteer High School, which resulted in a school wide lockdown while police searched for an apprehended Carter. Carter was wanted on sixteen felonies and will now face serious additional charges. The police officer was treated and released from a local hospital.
