Man Charged With Attempted First Degree Murder After Stabbing Incident

A call to police about a screaming child at an apartment complex in Norton Virginia leads police to charge and arrest a Norton man with attempted first degree murder after an apparent stabbing incident. Authorities responded to Hillside Apartments and found a woman covered in blood as a result of severe stab wounds. Police arrested Jonathan Eric Smith as he was coming out of the apartments. Smith was also covered in blood from an apparent self inflicted knife wound to the throat. The female victim is said to have received life threatening stab wounds and the investigation is continuing.
