Couple Accused Of Abusing Infant Twins

A local mother and father accused of abusing their twin three month old children are now facing multiple charges. Police say 29 year old William Luke is accused of abusing the children and inflicting injuries last November. Luke is charged with four counts of aggravated child abuse and other charges. 27 year old Mercedes Hanifin, the children’s mother is charged with aggravated assault by failure to protect when she didn’t tell anyone of the abuse. Both Luke and Hanifin remain in the Sullivan County Jail.
