Push for Sports Gambling Gather Momentum in Tennessee
A bill that would legalize sports gambling in Tennessee is gathering momentum.
Democratic Rep. Rick Staples had his legislation pushed forward in a House Committee. It would allow statewide mobile and interactive sports gambling, without brick and mortar betting locations.
A request to bar various people such a college athletes, certain school officials and board members, college students and employees with access to certain confidential information and others has been requested by Vanderbilt University and the University of Tennessee.
A Senate Panel has cast a nonbinding vote against the bill. It’s still slated for another committee’s consideration.
