I 26 Corridor…Hot Topic At Public Hearing

Improvements…congestion…safety,,,and Exit 17 at Boones Creek were all on the table for discussion at a pubic hearing Thursday night in Johnson City. TDOT officials gathered with concerned and interested crowd and many agreed improvements are needed to handle the congestion on the heavily traveled thoroughfare in Northeast Tennessee. TDOT officials also explained work already in the making at Exit 17 in Boones Creek. Draining, paving and construction of a diverging diamond that will include traffic lights to make it easier to get on and off Exit 17 are in the plans. Lawmakers recently passed legislation that could bring an estimated 950 acre retail shopping Center at Exit 17, similar to the Pinnacle development in Bristol.
