Southwest Virginia Job Corps Program Helping To Clean Up Nearly Ten Thousand Tires From Clinch River
Estimates place the number at nearly ten thousand tires that have accumulated in the Clinch River in Russell County, Virginia. Now, a group consisting of seventeen to 24 year olds is tasked with helping to clean up nearly sixty miles of the river that stretches through southwest Virginia. StreamSweepers is a job corps program currently partnering with Bridgestone to store the collected tires until they can be recycled. Crews from StreamSweepers are expected to continue the cleanup throughout the summer.
