Six Hour Hostage Standoff In Johnson City Ends Peacefully, Suspect In Custody
A six hour hostage standoff in Johnson City ends peacefully, with a suspect in custody. 35 year old Marc Kristopher Skeen is jailed after holding a Marathon convenience store employee hostage at gunpoint during a robbery attempt. Swat teams from Johnson City set up a perimeter and secured the scene. Hostage negotiators then responded and were able to encourage Skeen to disarm himself and release the victim. Skeen is charged with Especially Aggravated Kidnapping, two counts of Aggravated Assault, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a convicted felon. Skeen is being held in the Carter County Detention Center and is awaiting a preliminary hearing in General Sessions Court.
