UPDATE: Elizabethon restaurant owner accused of sex crimes gets trial date

An Elizabethton restaurant owner accused of trying to lure a young worker into a sexual relationship had his trial date set in Carter County Criminal Court.

Gary Mac Hicks, 57, is scheduled for court proceedings beginning February 12. Hicks, the operator of the Sycamore Drive In, pleaded not guilty last year following his indictment on charges of sexual battery by an authority figure, soliciting sexual exploitation of a minor and tampering with evidence.

A police report said Hicks tried to molest the child while inside a storage building on the property.
