Police: Woman Seriously Injured in Head-On Collision on I-26 Has Passed Away

A woman seriously injured in a Sunday morning head-on collision on I-26 in Kingsport has died.

The Kingsport Police Department says Margaret Buck succumbed to her injuries last night around 9:00 P.M. Authorities say the accident happened when a black Mercedes, driven by Zachary Hunt, was heading the wrong direction on the interstate when he hit Buck head on. The area where the crash happened was closed for over three hours Sunday due to the severity of the accident.

The investigation remains ongoing and charges are pending.
