Johnson City Police Cracking Down On Those Who Fail To Stop For School Buses
According to an annual survey, there are more than 17 million violations that put children entering and exiting a school bus at risk nationwide. Most of those violations are for failure to stop for school buses when the stop sign arm and flashing lights are out. Now, the Johnson City Police Department in an attempt to increase driver awareness of children boarding and deboarding a bus is conducting extra traffic enforcement in areas that frequently have reports of vehicles driving past stopped school buses. Failure to stop for a school bus is punishable by a fine of between 250 and one thousand dollars.
