UPDATE: Virginia Creeper Trail reopens after COVID-19 closure

Hikers and bikers were back on course with the reopening of the Virginia Creeper Trail on Tuesday.

The 34-mile corridor that stretches from Abingdon to Damascus had been closed to visitors since April 6 due to the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Facilities along the route such as restrooms remain closed and the trail authority asks visitors to prepare to pack in and pack out with food refuse and other trash because bins have been removed from the trail.
