Ballad Health to transfer some staff from hospitals in Hancock, Hawkins to Holston Valley Medical Center

Ballad Health says they are transferring some staff members from hospitals in Hancock and Hawkins County to Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport to assist in a recent surge in COVID-19 cases.

Ballad plans to keep emergency departments at both facilities operational, but anyone needing in-patient care will be transferred to Holston Valley.

It comes as Ballad announced Wednesday that they were treating 60 patients for COVID-19 and needed more bed space as they estimated around 40 COVID-19 beds currently remain available, but they hope to free up at least 50 more beds.
