KCS: Nearly 25% of students to start academic year learning remotely
Close to 25% of students in the Kingsport City Schools system will start the 2020-21 academic year taking classes online.
Families in the system were asked to choose their intent of in-person or remote learning. Following Tuesday’s deadline officials say they received around 4,851 total submittals, with just under 2,000 submittals chose the online route, which preliminary data included duplicates.
If choosing the online route, K-8 families are required to spend the first nine weeks in remote learning before they can switch to in-person learning, while families with high school students are required to spend a semester online before being eligible for the switch.
The first day of classes are scheduled for August 3rd.
