Carter County issues new executive order, extending mask mandate through Aug. 29

Carter County Mayor Rusty Barnett has extended the locality’s mask mandate through Aug. 29.

On Monday, Mayor Barnett issued Executive Order 6, which allows the mandate to continue, as it was set to expire Monday at midnight.

The order also encourages local education agencies, schools, and institutions to implement their own policy that would require students, faculty, and staff to wear a face covering, with certain exemptions and consistent with policies laid out by the state department of education to ensure a safe learning and working environment for all involved.
