UPDATE: Accused Russell County murder suspect scheduled for January court date

A woman charged in the death of a Russell County man will have her arraignment in General District Court in January.

Official reports say Brenda Jane Hicks is scheduled to appear on January 12th following a brief hearing held on Oct. 22 where the hearing was continued.

Hicks, 63, is accused of shooting William Bailey, 73, on the morning of Oct. 20 in the parking lot of the Russell County Shopping Center just off East Main Street following a verbal argument.

A police report said Hicks called 911 and informed emergency officials that she had just shot Bailey.
