Wise County teachers, school workers to receive coronavirus hazard pay

Members of the Wise County School Board have approved allocating necessary funding to award full-time and part-time personnel with coronavirus hazard pay in the coming weeks.

The funds will be a combination of local finances and dollars from the federal CARES Act that were earmarked for Virginia to use with COVID-19 related expenses and projects.

Full-time teachers and other workers will get a $1,000 one-time payment and part-timers receive $500.
