Virginia Commonwealth planning Greek house audit following weekend death of freshman student
Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond is planning an audit of all Greek houses on campus following the death of a male freshman student at a weekend event.
The family of Adam Oakes has classified the incident as hazing by the Delta Chi fraternity. Oakes was found dead off-campus the morning after he was blindfolded and given Jack Daniels to drink.
Richmond Police are in charge of the investigation. VCU estimates that 1,500 students are involved in one of the 40 Greek groups sanctioned by the school. The frat has been suspended by VCU.
