NEW: Milligan women’s softball advances to NAIA World Series in Columbus, Georgia

The Milligan University Buffaloes women’s softball team is headed to the NAIA World Series for the first time in program history with a regional clinching 6-3 win over Rio Grande in Lawrenceville, Georgia .

Statistics provided by the school show Milligan scored 14 runs and batted .269 during the tournament. The team includes 12 players who hail from Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia including sophomore Katie Cronin of Greeneville who captured the NAIA batting title this season.

The Buffaloes travel to Columbus, Georgia next week for the 10-team, double-elimination series that is scheduled to begin May 27th.
