Eastman Investigating High Pressure Steamline Failure Event…Rocks Nearby Neighborhood With Loud Boom

Eastman Chemical Company now says in a release the global chemical manufacturer’s fire department along with Kingsport’s Fire Department are investigating what the company is calling a high pressure steamline failure Monday morning that rocked the Eastman Campus and surrounding neighborhood around 745. Our newsroom received phone calls this morning from residents who told us they heard a loud boom then witnessed smoke coming from an Eastman facility. Eastman tells us they are currently working to gather more details and will provide an update as quickly as possible.
