Bristol Tennessee leaders prime legal action as Virginia side readies for state help

Bristol Tennessee City Council takes another step toward possible litigation against Bristol Virginia to force an improvement plan for its landfill.

A resolution passed by the board this week says the Tennessee side wishes to solve the matter outside a courtroom but has attorneys at the ready if necessary.

The directive also says Bristol Tennessee recognizes the involvement of Virginia state environment officials who will meet with the Virginia council this month to work on a draft consent plan aimed at snuffing out an odor problem that has caused health problems for residents in both cities.
