BREAKING: TBI issues BLUE ALERT after Blount County deputy killed
A Blount County deputy was killed in an officer-involved shooting Thursday evening. Deputy Greg McCowan was shot and killed during a traffic stop on Sevierville Road. A female deputy was shot in the leg and returned fire. She was treated and released from the hospital. The suspect has been identified as 42-year-old Kenneth Dehart. A statewide Blue Alert was issued for him and he has been added to the TBI Most Wanted list. The reward for Dehart’s arrest is now over 60,000. The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a $10,000 reward and Smith & Wesson CEO Mark Smith is offering a $40,000 reward in addition to the current reward of $10,000 and the up to $2,500 reward that is being offered by TBI. He is believed to be on foot in the Wildwood area. Anyone who sees him is asked to call 911. Dehart is considered to be armed and dangerous.
