Support Strong This Year In Virginia For Equal Rights Amendment
The future looks bright in Virginia for support of the Equal Rights Amendment, despite a complicated situation nationally. Supporters of the ERA are confident Virginia will become the 38th state to ratify the gender equality measure. Democrats in the Commonwealth seized control of the state legislature and there is unanimous support in both the House and Senate. Virginia supporters have framed ERA ratification as a chance to rebut the state’s long history of racist and intolerant policies. State Attorney General Mark Herring says following a ratification vote this year, he will include legal arguments in support of the Equal Rights Amendment.
