Hawkins Commissioners Looking to Reduce Number Of Commissioners To Fourteen
The number of Hawkins County Commissioners could be reduced from 21 to 14 if an out of order resolution is approved by the full County Commission next week. That scenario is unlikely, but one of the sponsors of the bill says commissioners could still change the August 2 ballot to pick two commissioners from each district instead of the current three commissioners from each district. The original goal of the resolution was to reduce the number of commissioners to 14 during 2018 instead of a resolution approved last month to reduce that number to 14 by the year 2022.
