Hawkins Taxpayers Still Looking At Smaller Tax Increase To Balance Budget

There’s some good news and some bad news for Hawkins County Taxpayers. First, the good news. Taxpayers will not be paying a 68 cent increase to their property taxes, but will still see a 29 cent increase to balance next years budget. In addition, numerous cuts have been made to many of the town’s departments. One of the Biggest cuts comes from the Parks and Recreation Department. The BMA will Vote on the measure on first reading this Thursday.
