Bond Issue To Help Address Rogersville Water And Sewer Woes
More than three hundred thousand dollars allegedly stolen by the former Rogersville Water Superintendent is being blamed for part of a financial and equipment crisis at the city’s water department. However, the acting water superintendent says the sewer system isn’t financially self sufficient and the department has basically become a repair shop for a dilapidated system in need of repairs. The water department is now issuing a two million dollar bond in 2018-2019 to fix a long list of repairs. Water customers are also facing a twenty three percent rate increase to help offset an almost 70 thousand dollar budget deficit.
