Mother Charged With Child Abuse After Infant Goes Blind From Brain Bleed

A Gate City, Virginia woman is behind bars this morning after being arrested on charges of child abuse after the reportedly caused her child to go blind after receiving serious head injuries resulting in a brain bleed. Ashley Marie Cowan was indicted on felony child abuse causing serious injury and child neglect after the one year old was brought into a local hospital suffering from severe head injuries that were determined to not be accidental. Cowen also assaulted a social services worker who was on the case.
