Teens Lucky, 18 Year Old Cited In Wrong Way, Head On Crash On Hammond Bridge

It could have been much worse for four teenagers recently injured in an accidental, wrong way, head-on crash on a heavily traveled bridge in Kingsport. 18 year old Steven Ashworth and his seventeen year old passenger, along with two other juveniles in another vehicle involved were treated for non life threatening injuries earlier this week. Ashworth accidentally turned the wrong way from Rock Springs Road onto the Hammond Bridge on Fort Henry Drive. Motorists were forced to serve out of Ashworth’s way before he realized his mistake, but not before he crashed into the other oncoming vehicle. The crash closed both lanes of the bridge for nearly two hours. Ashworth was cited for driving the wrong direction.
