Man Receives Lengthy Prison Sentence For Brutally Murdering Next Door Neighbor

After recently being found guilty of brutally murdering his next door neighbor, 33 year old Steven Ray Matney has been sentenced to 27 years in prison by a Buchanan County jury. Matney was found guilty of slashing the throat of 68 year old Ruby Gay Hurley in her Buchanan County home in June of this year. Hurley invited Matney to her house for dinner and after Matney left, he later returned and killed Hurley, robbed her of three hundred dollars and Xanax pills.
