Tennessee Supreme Court Disbars Sullivan County Attorney

The Tennessee Supreme Court has disbarred a Sullivan County attorney. Court records indicate, attorney Everett Mechem was disbarred for accepting a settlement that was not authorized by his clients in a personal injury lawsuit. Mechem deposited the money into his trust account but never distributed the money to its clients. Mechem will also pay thirty thousand dollars in restitution and more than 15 hundred dollars in court costs.
