Charges Pending in Fatal Carter County Crash

Charges are pending in a fatal head-on crash in Carter County.

69-year-old Kathy Deal was killed when 81-year-old Hobert Watson of North Carolina struck Deal’s Saturn Aura head-on with his Chrysler Town & County while driving on Mary Patton Highway.

Deal tried to swerve to avoid Watson who crossed over into the center lane but failed.

Deal was pronounced dead at the scene. Watson is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
