Report: Suboxone maker settles civil suit for $1.4 billion
The largest recovery in a case involving an opioid maker in US history was made during federal court proceedings in Abingdon. Reckitt Benckiser, the company that manufactures Suboxone, agreed to pay $1.4 billion to settle claims tied to civil litigation accusing them of a scheme to increase prescriptions for the drug and giving misleading information about potential addiction. RB Group will pay $50 million to the Federal Trade Commission to settle claims of using illegal practices to prohibit competitors from making a generic version of Suboxone. The company still faces a criminal trial next year.
