Northeast Tennessee Couple Arrested In Sevier County On Multiple Charges After Traffic Stop
A Mount Carmel man and a woman from Elizabethton have been arrested in Sevier County after being stopped by sheriff’s officials and then ramming a sheriff’s cruiser, with the deputy inside. 32 year old David Allen Jackson and 27 year old Stephanie Renee Gillespie were arrested after being stopped for a routine traffic violation. With the deputy inside, the driver of the truck, which was stolen out of Sullivan County, put the vehicle in reverse, violently ramming the cruiser. Jackson and Gillespie then fled the scene and crashed the vehicle. Both received injuries and were transported to a hospital. Jackson is facing multiple felony charges including aggravated assault and felony evading and reckless endangerment. Jackson and Gillespie were wanted in Sullivan and Washington Counties. The deputy was not injured.
