Virginia’s State Corporation Commission sadly is reminding Virginian’s as daily news reports continue to track the spread of coronavirus unscrupulous individuals are seeking to capitalize on fear and uncertainty surrounding the reports. In a press release on Friday, the commission says consumers should think twice before considering research reports or promotions claiming the products or services of publicly traded companies can prevent, detect or cure the coronavirus and that the stock of these companies will dramatically increase in value as a result. The commission recommends consumers verify that the salesperson and the security are registered by the appropriate securities regulator.
