UPDATE: THP: Three tractor-trailer drivers taken to hospital following crash on I-81 in Greene Co.
Three tractor-trailer drivers were taken to the hospital following a crash Tuesday night in Greene County.
A preliminary report from Tennessee Highway Patrol says the crash occurred just before 7:00 p.m on Interstate 81 Southbound near mile marker 39.
Two tractor-trailers were traveling north and one was traveling south. One of the trailers traveling north, operated by Chander Parkash, 54, of Canada, attempted to switch lanes, causing the other trailer, driven by Abajebel Kerem, 51, of Decatur, GA, to veer onto the shoulder to avoid collision, but was sideswiped.
Both tractor-trailers continued through the median and collided with the tractor-trailer traveling south, driven by Ibsa Shaymo, 39, of Antioch, TN causing it to roll on its side. All drivers were transported to Johnson City Medical Center where their conditions are unknown.
No charges have been filed, and the crash remains under investigation.
