VSP snow stats: 31 crashes, 56 disabled vehicles in SW Virginia
The first winter blast of snow for 2022 produced more than 300 crashes across the Commonwealth including 31 in Southwest Virginia.
The stats from State Police headquarters said troopers assisted more than 280 stranded motorists due to snow that left a dusting in some locations while roads in more mountainous terrain were snow-covered and slick in patches.
The VSP also said a percentage of crashes were due to motorists driving too fast in those conditions.
