Johnson City’s water system earns score of 98 on TDEC survey

Johnson City’s water system earned a score of 98 on a survey conducted by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. This survey happens every 18-24 months, where TDEC personnel spend days evaluating and inspecting the many facets of water infrastructure within the city.

Officials say Johnson City’s water system has received consecutive approvals for more than 40 years. The city’s director of Water and Sewer Services, Tom Witherspoon, says, “Safe, clean drinking water is a priority. There are far more pieces and parts to operating a water system than most people realize.”
