UPDATE: Suspect in Norton police chief shooting denied bond

A Wise County Circuit Court judge has denied a bond request for James Buckland–the suspect who police said shot Norton Police Chief James Lane in 2021.

The judge also scheduled Buckland’s trial on a charge of attempted capital murder related to the case to begin on Oct. 19.

Lane continues to undergo therapy and treatment due to his wounds.
