UPDATE: Court of Appeals declines to hear challenge to Adult Entertainment Act

Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti declared victory after the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals decline to review a case brought by a Memphis drag performance group to challenge the state’s Adult Entertainment Act.

Opponents called the law an infringement on the First Amendment while Tennessee lawmakers argued entertainment like men that dress in drag is reserved for adult audiences in adult venues.

Skrmetti said in the statement that Tennessee has an incredible community of performers and songwriters, but those named in the lawsuit are for adults only.
