Lane shift on I-26 in Unicoi County as Helene repairs continue

There is a change in the traffic pattern of Interstate 26 in Unicoi County. One lane had been open in each direction between mile markers 39 and 40 in Erwin using the westbound side of the interstate. Beginning Tuesday, traffic will be moved to the eastbound side of the interstate. According to TDOT, after the traffic shift, Exit 40 in both directions will be open but the entrance ramp from Jackson Love Highway to I-26 West will be closed. Travelers can access I-26 West at Erwin-Jonesborough Exit 37. Width restrictions for all vehicles remain in place. Drivers are asked to use caution and expect delays.
