Former JC Doughboys manager heads to the NY Mets

A former Appalachian League manager is heading to the major leagues. Kevin Mahoney, who served as manager of the Johnson City Doughboys for the past three seasons, was named an assistant coach for the New York Mets. Mahoney was the 2023 Appalachian League manager of the year and led the Doughboys to the league title in 2023, and 87 wins from 2022-24. The 2025 season for the Appalachian League will begin June 5.
