Bicyclist injured in collision with vehicle in Abingdon

Abingdon Police say a bicyclist was injured Sunday morning during a crash. The crash took place on Trigg Street and involved a van and a bicyclist. Police investigators said the van driver was traveling behind the cyclist and began to pass them and as the van was nearly past the cyclist, the cyclist unexpectedly swerved into the side of the van, hitting the rear quarter panel. The cyclist sustained injuries in the crash and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The crash remains under investigation.
