KPD releases annual report for 2024

The Kingsport Police Department published its annual report for 2024 on Thursday with the report detailing the types and frequency of incidents the department responded to and how the report compares to 2023. The Department responded to 56,800 calls in 2024, compared to 61,470 in 2023. A total of 4,798 adults and juveniles were arrested or received misdemeanor citations and officers responded to 2,123 vehicle collisions and issued 12,393 local and state citations. There were some sizable decreases in some major crime categories including a decrease in burglaries by 26% and a 45% decrease in vandalism. There were also less incidents of motor vehicle thefts, vehicle collisions and burglaries.
