Washington County TN residents to present petition to commissioners

At Monday’s county commission meeting, concerned Washington County, Tennessee residents intended to bring a series of requests before the commissioners. A group of concerned residents said they want to reverse the county’s 21% property tax increase that was approved last year. Some residents claimed the commission is raising property taxes to cover the costs of recent large purchases. Signatures want to establish a Washington County group of independent auditors. The petition currently has around 1,240 signatures. The group was not able to present their petition at Monday’s meeting, but they plan to present it at the next commission meeting.
